A farmer-soldier village of Kotoni where the first Japanese farmer-soldiers settled. 208 houses were built in total and soldier house no. 133 was rebuilt in its current location. The resident was Senjiro Seino from Miyagi.

The tondenhei (屯田兵) were former samurai recruited from 1874 as farmer-soldiers, to farm and potentially defend Hokkaido.
